Question by Yahoo: How much should I spend on a digital camera?
So I am doing some travelling overseas for the next year, so I need a digital compact camera which can take video too. I seen prices from 0 up, I dont want to spend to much so it isnt a burden if i lose it or it breaks, and I also need to buy a few memory cards. Sony W55 starts at 0 which is really popular and good, but uses the sony cards.
So how much should I spend?
Recommdenation for a camera?

you want one to suit your needs if it’s compact get a small one, if you gonna take scenery get a wide angle lens, if it’s just snap shots get a 3x zoom, if you gonna take close ups you need a good macro.
Panasonic, Sony, Olympus, Canon, Nikon all good
I HAVE A KODAK EASYSHARS MD853 AND IT WAS ABOUT $200 BUT THERE ARE CAMERAS THAT GOES FOR $149 AND UP
Sony W55 is enough. It already has a built it memory of 56mb , no need for a card not unless u will use it more as a video cam than a still cam.
Well I wouldn’t pay more than 300 dollars on it. That is probably the best bet because traveling overseas is kinda big and it’ll help. I don’t know what to reccomend but if you want something with vid. on it too I would def reccomend the Kodak EasyShare C330. That’s what I have, and it’s great.
A decent camera at a cheap price. $200.00 can get you set up nicely. Walmart.com has a Fujifilm digital camera for about $100.00. It’s 8MP, movie mode, uses xD or SD cards, 3x optical zoom. This is actually a nice point and shoot camera. I have used Fuji 35mm film cameras and know several people who use digitals from them. With $200.00, you can buy the camera, some memory card even a nicer carry case (one does come with the camera) and have some change left over. It’s not top of the line, but for what you want, it will work great. The low price means that if it were lost or damaged, it would not be a big loss.
